I'm getting to old for this stuff! My back is killing me! :jest: Before: http://personal.lig.bellsouth.net/c/...dynamat8-1.jpg After: http://personal.lig.bellsouth.net/c/...dynamat8-1.jpg |
Ive been thinking about doing he same thing to my car...how much material did you end up using to complete the job? |
I ended up using one trunk kit and 1 1/2 door kits. First time I tried this and I'm sure some of my methods were a little wasteful. I did go all the way to the back of the rear seat with it though. |

Look good. It can add alot of weight depending on which type you go with. Alot of people just cover the wheel wells since most of the noise comes from that location. |

I want to know if it is worth it. Does that stuff make a big difference? |
I think I'm going to do that in spring once it warms up a little bit. I'm more interested in the reduction in exterior noise though...this exhaust is just too loud for me. Let me know how much exterior noise you think it helped eliminate. |
I have done a few trucks and cars myself and I did the whole thing, not just parts. You could tell the difference when finished. I have done my doors on my Z about a month ago and they seem quit solid now. My stock speakers do not vibrate anymore either. |
IF you are not worried about weight, which could end up being a couple hundred pounds for a fully sounddeadened car, this would be easily one of the best things you could do to your car. My shop has done over 100 vehicles with dynamat extreme, and I would recommend it to anyone. As far as cost. You can buy a couple bulk packs on ebay for $150 or so shipped, each. Retail is $250 a pack, and there is 36 sq. ft. per pack. You'd be amazed what a complete sounddeadening job on an F-body does for it. It just makes the car so much better to drive. |
I'd rather not think about it. :) It was actually about $230 for the Extreme Dynamat and a wooden roller. I spent to much on the last door kit because I bought it locally, but I was ready to finish it and start installing the stereo stuff. I haven't driven it yet, but closing the hatch sure sounds solid. Spraying 1 1/2 cans of expanding foam in all the holes under the hatch probably has something to do with that too. I haven't driven the car since doing all this yet, so I don't know how quiet it is. I'm hoping it will drown some of the interior exhaust noises down too. I guess if you gotta add weight, over the rear axle is the best place to add it. jest:
