Anyone modify to put 6X9's

Is this even possible? I know the stock size is 5.5 or something like that but I have a set of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6X9's from when I bought them for my old 3rd gen, just lying around.

Anybody figure out how to put 6X9's in or is there not enough depth in that area?

i wouldnt. 6x9's are jus a ok sounding speaker. stock speakers are 6.75" in the doors and sail pannels. and 4" in hatch. a nice set of CDT componet speakers outperform a 6x9 in every single way and a lot easier mounting. btw you want to amp them ;)
good luck

components in the front and coaxes in the sail with a nice amp and disconnect the hatch speakers would make for a nice combo

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use them as long as your car is a coupe (no vert) and you are willing to cut. People have put 8" subs back there with cutting so as long as they don't have monster magnets you'd probably be allright.

You'd have to check the clearances, of course, and I don't think it's worth the $100 or whatever you'd be saving. But if you absolutely want to use the 6x9's, you could probably do it.

The reason why I wanted to put 6x9's is because I have a pair of Infinity Kappa Perfect 3 ways that are absolutely phenomenal. I guess I could always sell them and put that towards 6.5 Kappas, and an amp, but the RMS wattage arent as high as the 6x9's capacity.

I would toss another thing it... can the 6x9's be bi-wired? If you can bi-wire them you'll be suprised how well the monsoon amp can drive them.

But really it's a hell of a cutting project you're talking about. Not impossible but time consuming and a hassle.

Just sell em and pick up some proper 6.5"s. Putting good 6.5's in your doors is going to be the best bang for your buck, anyways.

my infinitys are wired seperately and have an external crossover, is that what you are talking about?

if you mean wiring in parralel then no they cannot. you would need dual voice coils for that
