How to splice in aftermarket speakers for backseat and rear hatch

I haven't even looked at how it might be rigged, but I figured I'd ask first. They're some generic Wal-Mart brand, I believe.

are you running any amps? are you talking about replacing the stock ones or adding more speakers. Dont get crappy walmart speakers, will be a waste of money, the monsoon speakers are better. Get some decent speakers if your going to put the money into it.

I'm all stock. I paid $30 for 4 speakers.

Well if you look in the sticky in this section there is one that tells which color wires come off the headunit to which speaker, but thats only if you want to run better wires. Otherwise just cut the wires off the old speakers and re-install the new ones.

You can score some cash on ebay for them...that is if they are in good working order

well they were as far as i know when i pulled them out. but as far as ebay goes, im trying to get rid of my monsoon amp and cd player and after 9 days not one single bid. this sucks.

Assuming you have a Monsoon system, don't even bother - take them back to Wal-Mart. If you had the base audio system I still wouldn't install them unless you really don't care about sound quality but at least the installation would be fairly easy. Base audio systems just have four standard speakers (two in doors and two in sail panels) that run off the head unit so you wouldn't be replacing hatch speakers.

Monsoon systems have subs in the sail panels and components in the hatch area (Firebird only - separate woofer and tweeter). The Monsoon amp filters the signal to the subs so you won't get anything but bass regardless of what speakers you install there. Installing cheap (coax?) speakers there will really sound bad.

As for the hatch area, I doubt you got the correct 4" components for that price so what did you buy?

Just spend the extra little money on the right set of door and sail panel speakers.....the best thing I could have done. I almost went your route because Im not huge on bass or big systems, I just like a good, full, clear sound when I listen to my music; I took some advice instead and spent a little money...the sound I got for the money spent is awesome.

Ok, guys, we put the woofers in a little bit ago. They're 300-watt Pyramid Originals. It sounds all right.

What size are the front two speakers? I need to replace the passenger front now.

Gee, I didn't see 6" speakers mentioned anywhere in the FAQ...
