Let me get this straight...

If i have a 50x4 amp and a 100x4 amp my stereo will be about 12 db louder? Can someone break this down nice and dumb for me? Also how noticeable is 12 db?

if your talking about going from 50x4 to 100x4 it will definitely be louder not sure on exact #'s. u also gotta be sure the speakers can handle double the wattage. if thats what your talking about

yes thats what im talking about and from what ive been told it isnt as big of a diff as you may think.

50 to 100 will give you 3db, and you are correct, it's not that much louder.

Generally, an increase of 10db is needed for something to sound twice as loud.

Thanks so its just a 3db increase. Not 3db per speaker (and in my case being 3db x4 making it 12db?)

no matter how many speakers, or what size they are. Doubling power is a 3db increase overall. doubling cone area is also a 3db increase (going from 1 sub to 2). Doubling cone area AND doubling power is a 6db increase (for example, going from a single 10" with 400 watts, to 2 10"'s with 400 watts each, 800 total).
