Fried a amp, don't know why
 

So I just put in a BassLink sub in my 98 z28. At first it did not work at all. I found that I had a bad ground, so I found a good new spot in the trunk. Everything worked perfect for about 2 weeks. A few days ago I started up my car, had the stereo turned up about a 1/4 way up(not loud at all). I let the car run for about 2-3 minutes, reved it up a bit then I my lights flickered a bit and the sub just turned it self off. So I checked the fuse, it was blown. I swaped it out. The amp turned on but had the overload light on. And that was it, now it's just dead.

Can this have been caused by my electrical system? If so, why? My car runs perfect, light flicker just a bit when I goose the throttle. Otherwise everything is just fine.

How can a slight voltage drop fry a amp?

Anyone at all? ? ?

I know someone's gotta know something about this. . . . . .

I wish i had an answer because this is a very intresting Q.
But just send the BassLink back. BassLinks are good pieces!
Only thing that i am guessing is the fuse that was in there was rated higher than the amp needs, or was a slow burner. Both of these would fry the amp. Look in the manual...

No this thing is toast. I can not realy return it, I bought it on eGay. Oh well, I got a pretty cool settup ordered.

This is what I got coming in. I just dont want to fry this thing. If I do, at least this amp has a warranty.

I don't like the stealth enclosure at all. It gives me no room to mount the amp. My Infinity sounded pretty damn good to me. This thing should sound better, shit its almost a 500 Watt 8".

If you get the stealth you can also buy or make an amp rack that stays out of the way of everything.
Also that is not true that if you have a stealth box you have no where to put the amp.
You can buy the passanger side box and mount the amp in the drivers side.

In stereo equipment you get what you pay for...I'd call up subthump and see what the have to offer. They hooked me up, and it sounds amazing!

Ehh, my shit gets here today. I will be happy if I get sound and the amp does not blow after a few weeks.

I sure miss having a real trunk. . . . . . .
