Light's Dimming????
 

Ok, so over the passed few month's. Ive noticed that at time's, my headlight's will dimm. I used to think that maybe i was just seeing thing's, and it was just because of the bump's here but just the other night. I started my car up, and let it run for a lil bit. Didnt warm it up completely, but i revved it up and when the RPM came back down around the 1, the light's dimmed. So i revved it again, and it did it once again.

What do you guy's think could be the reason for the light's dimming????

I know it's not becuz of the new stereo that i have installed, the light's did this month's before. New stereo was just put in this passed December.

Alternator is what comes to my mind first, and then battery going dead is next...


What does your voltage gauge read?
how far does it drop when you rev?



Go to Advanced Auto, Auto Zone, O Riley's....etc and get them to do a battery and alternator check

I have the same problem in my 95 Firebird and i noticed it during the night time and when it took a a couple turns to start my car one day

Simple thing: check that your battery wires and your alternator connections are tight and corrosion free. Do the same with your grounds.

im guessing it might be when ur car revs down, the alternator is loosing some generating capacity, so in turn the voltage drops and the lights dim. as stated before, have a store check out the alternator and battery.

my alternator in my firebird had to be replaced at 138k miles
along with window motors and such

I hear jumping cars really hurts the alternator... so maybe less miles if you like to help.. :)

Thank's for the info guy's, ill do what you said 1st DragonRage. Then see if it continue's, if so ill then take it into O'Riley's and have them check out the Alternator & Battery.

I only have a lil over 52k mile's on it. Im probably going to have to get a new Window Motor, my driver side window at time's will not roll back up. I have to give it a few second's, then it will go up. Sometime's it will go up all the way, and other's it only goe's so much and i gotta wait once again.

My camaro has roll ups....gotta love em

but my mustang has power everything, thank ford for making things that last :)
