Ok I have seen the multiple threads on the pros/cons on it and see Speartech now has a kit. Simple question.
I can see the 6 speed is bigger around than the 4 speed. Has anyone measured and documented the various circumference differences between these 2 trannies? IE clearing various floorpans...specifically the TBSS!
I see there is a length difference of 35mm in the two 6L's, but what's the length difference between the 6 speed and 4 speed?
I think it's been beaten to death on the TBSS forums.
Transmission tunnel modifications required.
Here is a good illustration of the size difference:

At the front (where the convertor housing joins the main case), the dimensions are similar, and as the profile heads to the rear of the trans, the size gets in the way. The rear of the case is 8" in diameter. You can scale off this.
The pan is narrower than the 4L60/65, but overall deeper because the trans is taller at the rear, by 2 - 3".
The pan actually takes up less room (in i.e. a Camaro tunnel), than the 4L.
I think I have the dimensions written down somewhere, which I took when I took the photos originally.
Trust this helps.
Cheers.

The 4x4 6l80 has a shorter output shaft than the 4x2.
Isn't the 6l80 a 32 spline output same as the 4l80?

If you mean the extension housing, yes. 6L80/90 are shorter that 4L60/5. The 6L90 shown has an extension housing ~6" long (excluding the boot).
I have not checked the 6L80 personally, but have been advised it is the regular size spline. 6L90 very large.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
did an engine swap for a pajero/montero
it has a 4l60e currently.... so i would like to change it to a 6 speed transmission (6l80e)
the thing is that I'm not sure whether the transfer case adapter will bolt straight on to the 6l80e.
so i need your help to tell me whether the 4l80e and the 6l80e bolt pattern are the same or not (linking to the transfer case)
got the transfer case adapter from marks4wdadapter
so if anyone, please help
would really appreciate any input
Thanks
thanks!
