Cylinder leak down higher on one

Default Cylinder leak down higher on one

Unknown gen3 6.0 as far as mileage goes. I did hear it run before it was pulled and didn’t sound like it had any issues. It was in a work truck with a non original cluster. I got it torn down and did a cam, timing set, oil pump and oil pan. I was going to do valve springs and valve seals and decided to do a leakdown test since my tool just arrived. All the cylinders are about the same except #2 which is like double the others at about 55% leakage with 100psi air. I tried hitting the valves and blowing out around the seats and no change. From what I can tell the air is going into the crankcase so it must be the piston rings. I’m gona get a cam in there to make sure the piston top isn’t broken.

so what do I do now? Is this really worth it to tear it down, hone that cylinder and do new rings? This is gona be a turbo motor going in my 78 vette to replace the 5.3.

Putting boost on those clapped out leakers will give you an opportunity to take a serious look at the PCV system.
I'd consider a clean-up, hone, and a new set of rings, touch up the seats, and send it.

Ugh, reuse the stock head bolts too? I really didn't want to yank the heads.

you would be suprised how many do.

What is the part number for the rings? Does it matter to replace the rings or just ball hone and slap it back in?
