Default What is the best way to clean the inside of a intake manifold

I just bought an ls6 intake for my ws6 and I want to make sure it's perfectly clean before it goes on my motor what is the best way to clean it and also inside the runners and inside the whole thing I don't want any dirt entering my motor...

Mine is a ported LS6 intake. When I took my heads off a few years ago to have them rebuilt I wanted to do the same thing with mine. It was NASTY dirty. The runners and everywhere I could touch felt like a thick layer of sand paper from all the crap that had been building up in it.

I sprayed an ungodly amount of Sea Foam spray Deep Creep (like 3 cans) inside everywhere, let it sit for like 30 minutes and then took a toilet type brush that had a flexible pole attached to it and ran it straight through all the runners and all inside the intake. I did that process like 4 times. It was smooth as glass inside when I got done. And when I put the water hose to it after the Deep Creap sat and soaked in, it was pure black water that came out each time.

I was told I should have taken it apart, but I didn't think about that a tthe time. Probably get it cleaned up faster if you take it apart. I didn't know you could.

I didn't know you can either, I was just told that after I cleaned mine. But the way I described how to clean it, works great.

Two cans of brake cleaner and a air hose worked wonders when I put a used fast 90 on mine.

Brake clean ( non chlorinated) or Simple Green and a brush, rinse well with water and turn it on end to let gravity drain, then blow it out/off with air gun. The LS6 is a one piece design....no way to take it apart like the FAST.

Well I just cleaned it I got purple power and a toilet bristle brush that could bend. I sat it in the tub sprayed waited scrubbed rinse and repeated 4 times now it's like brand new what can I do to make of look better before I install it. I have left over plastic polish compounds and pads will that do anything?

you could also you tide washing powder and water or really any washing powder and let it sit over nite submerged. Use half the little cup to enough water to submerge the intake in a ice chest or bucket of some sort

I used dawn, it cuts grease right? lol Then i rinsed it out very well.

Get some sand paper, it's REAL bitch to do man. I got the rails completely smooth on top and removed those dots on each of the 8 humps on top. and most of what i could reach. Took forever...

You need some high filler primer i believe its called. **** it, spray the whole can on it. Can be found at any auto parts store. Then pick your color out. Spray paint it with some duplicolor paint. 2-3 coats, whatever you desire. Then clear coat it if you wish, but remember you'll have to polish it and that'll be hard to do as well, since there are so many curves. I polished mine after I cleared it, to get it to shine better. I wanted it to really shine.

PM me later. When I get home i'll show you some pics if you care to see the finished product.
