So close to my goal I can taste it...
My goal is to have Christine (my Caprice) be a Cam-Only 11 second granny tank. I just need to work out a couple more bugs and I have no doubt I will be there.
A huge thanks to all my friends that have helped my along the way, including donating their time, trailers, trucks, knowledge, parts and money to help me get the car where it is today.

Thank you for looking.

Damn son, that boat gets with it!! Give us more details on the 6 liter. I bet if you shed a little weight from the car it would get in the 11's pretty easy. Nice work sir!!

The LQ9 6.0L is a Cam-Only set up, Stock/Untouched "317" heads....NO L92 head swap with a $1,000+ Fast Intake and claiming "cam-only" here.
I am using an EPS cam and really like how well it pulls. The car has a TH400, 4500 stall, 3:73 rear end and the cheapest Trans Am headers I could find, all helped by a nice set of Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials.
The 12.0 run was just letting off the brakes and hitting the gas, didn't stall it on the foot brake or anything.
I am having an issue with the trans, it some how shifts it's self from 1st - 2nd by its self really early (about 4,500 rpm as you can hear in the video) even when I shift the gears manually (the 2nd to 3rd gear shift will stay until I shift it manually at about 6,500 rpm).
I know the pass that I snapped my axle on would have been a high 1.5 60ft and an 11 second pass because I actually stalled it up on the foot brake before launching that time and it launched haaaard.
Snapping axles just means it's hooking up really well I guess.

Wow, that's pretty quick with not a lot of mods!! Sounds like the usual drivetrain stuff as well. I know all about the heavy car situation, my disco Nova isn't exactly light!! Any power adders in your future plans?

After I get the transmission and rear end issues/bugs worked out and am running 11's consistently, then I will spray a 150 wet shot on it. The system is already on the car, just not hooked up completely yet.

Last time I had it at the scales it was with the all aluminum LS1 and TH350, and it weighed in at 3,860 with me in it. Now that it has a LQ9 (iron block) and a TH400, it is probably closer to 4,000 lbs (2 tons) with me in it.

That car rules man !!!! I recently sold a primered green 69 Imp 4dr. post car
that had an s475 blo-thru on a 385 and the looks you get from the fans in the
stands are priceless when you come back the return road. I'd bet people flock
to it in the pits just to see the hood opened....

Thank you very much. I know I would go faster with a swapped Fox Body Mustang or RX7, but I like the feeling of getting all the heft and weight moving in an older heavy car.

Your 6.0 would fly in a fox mustang, but that's been done to death already, the Caprice is ******' cool!!! I've never seen a caprice with an LS swap before. Should be interesting to see what it does on spray, I plan on spraying my 5.3 next summer, maybe a 200 shot. Good luck!!

I bet a 200 shot on your 5.3 will be very impressive.

If I can make it to the track on a day with some decent air, I'm looking to run some low 11's on spray. I'd like to get in the 10's with this engine, but it might take more than 200. We'll just have to see I guess.

I have no doubt you will reach your goals with the 5.3 in your disco Nova!
