3.42s What do you think?
Currently I'm running 11.6s with 125shot of nitrous. Mods are in sig but wanted to add that its an auto with the stock converter and 2.73 gears. The rear end is giving up the ghost and will be replaced with a 12 bolt in the next month or two. So my question is how will 3.42s affect my e.t. assuming 60' and what not remain the same. Thanks guys.

Going from 2.73 to 3.42 gears you should pick up 2 or 3 tenths meaning that the 60 foot is were you will pickup most of your time, so your now 11.6 should be 11.4 or a hair better and the car will drive like daylight to dark difference but you need to fix the shift points in the computer were your an auto car and the speedometer for it to react right. Ive got a few sets of 3.42 gears (75.00 shipped under 20,000 miles) that will fit the stock size rear in Camaro but you will need a differental from a 6 speed car or and auto that had performance axle 3.23 car. Hope it works out. Just let me know if you are interested. Good Luck

Actually, in most instances, for every tenth you pick up on your short time (60ft), you pick up 2 tenths on the big end (1/4). So if you DO pick up 2 tenths on your 60, you'll knock off four tenths of your ET and be at an 11.2 or so if everything remains the same. BUT i see you knockin a tenth of your 60, and 2 tenths off the big end, puttin you around a 11.4x or so. Either way, good results! Tranny holding well I suppose?

Actually, now that you mention the trans, it blew up pretty spectaculalry at the end of last season, ironically the last night of the season. Some hard part let go on the launch and siezed up momentarily breaking the rear u-joint. Got the trans replaced, used a service contract so unfortunately not a performance built trans but then again it only cost me 100 bucks and a tow from the track. Ah well, I'll get a 12bolt and just wait for the trans to go again. Thanks for the info guys.

I had an A4 with 2.73 and loved that gear. Its great on the street and from a roll. I went to a 3.42 gear and had problems hooking up in the street. But if you're not worried about traction on the street and have some suspension itd be great at the track. I personaly would go with a 3.23. But thats my 2cents worth.
