LS Swap Dakota in the 12's.
1999 Dakota R/T
LY6
LS9 cam
6L90
CHENRY tuning
Cast exhaust manifolds
2.5 inch crush-bent dual exhaust
Magnaflow mufflers
87 octane
30 psi street tires
Cool evening with good air.
After 3 years, and resisting temptation to take LSDAK to the track, I finally gave in. I had to know what it would run. On the street, it has been great. So here it is.
Pulled off of the highway still in work clothes. Ran 13.35/108.60 12.96/110.09....getting quicker.
So third run.
Looks good. This is still on street tires, 30 psi, going right back in line to run again. If you take the 60 foot time into consideration. This is a great run. With gearing, slicks and cal-tracs, this would be 12.20-12.30 no problem.
Then the fourth run.
I lift at the line with some vibration, and BAM! My driveshaft is chasing me down the track, and I now have exhaust cut-outs. Didn't have them a second ago.
Ouch.
Track was shut down, and they retrieved what was left of my 5 inch aluminum driveshaft.
And damage to the exhaust.
Grab the truck, load it up on the trailer, head home.
