LYM or LY5

LYM or LY5
Does anyone know if you can drop a LYM or LY5 from a (aka vortec 5300) silverado/taco into a gen 4 camaro?
These engines are cheap, plentiful, and all aluminum and they put out 340 hp stock.... even if they were meant for a truck.

Never heard of a LYM...
The 5.3's in GM's Gen IV arsenal:
LY5 - Iron block, AFM
LMG - Iron block, AFM, flex fuel
LMF - Iron block, flex fuel
LH6 - Aluminum block, AFM
LC9 - Aluminum block, AFM, flex fuel
LH9 - Aluminum block
Additionally, starting in 2010, they have VVT.
Any of these could potentially swap into a new Camaro and be relatively trouble free. Most will opt to remove the AFM and VVT if equipped. Of course, Camaro intake and accessories would need to be used.

I think I meant the LH6... Not sure whereI came up with LYM...
anyway, how about a generation 4 Camaro (aka 1993-2002)?
Any chance those mounts would line up on a 1995 Camaro and 6 speed?
Like everyone I want cheap power

Well the mounts would line up for a camaro that had an LS1 (98-02) but I doubt it would drop into an LT1 camaro (your 1995)
Even putting a Gen IV motor in place of Gen III motor is usually not worth the cost unless you get the motor for free or its a better motor (L99, LS3)

if you're dropping into a LT1 4th gen then you'll need a LS1 K-member, but barring that then it should line up just fine. You'll also need to swap out your oil pan to a f-body pan unless you like the thought of running over squirrels with your oil pan.

thans for the responses.
Pillage, from the looks of your tag line it seems you had this idea long before I did.
Good to know. I might be hitting you up for some pointers/advice if that OK with you.
