Question about stroker crank for 5.3
Ive got a 5.3 motor that im looking to stick a few bucks in. I was wondering if anybody knows if a 4.250 stroke crank will fit in a 5.3. It has 2.559 mains and 2.100 pins. Ls1 post and flange.. Any help would be appreciated.

There are 4.250 cranks out there. I make them everyday . Just wasnt sure if it would clear. Im looking to go through my 5.3 and I have a opportunity to get a crank with that stroke very cheap. But I would still like it to be a daily driver, not a race motor. What would be ideal for performance and longevity in this situation? I have a set of 243 heads that are going on along with a 228 cam. Just figure while its down, might as well do the crank. Thanks!

I guess my question is now, what would be the max stroke I could go here? Im looking to be at 450ish at the tires. Doesnt seem to far from reasonable from other builds ive seen on here with similar set ups. Its a DD ext cab 4x4 truck. 3.73 gears, tranny is already built for 500+ horse. Since its a heavy chevy, I figure a little more stroke for torque wouldnt be a bad thing here.

I'll have a 4.125" Cola crank for sale soon. Its getting a repair done, it'll be good as new. Perhaps the best crank ever made.......
A 4.250" stroke in those cylinders would be a ticking time bomb, probably don't even make pistons/rods combo that will work. It would drink a quart of oil every 5 miles and the cylinders would be out of round in 100 miles.........LOL
Maybe do a 3.825" Callies crank....390ci. They only cost $660.00.....great deal to have a forged crank good for 1,200 HP. Callies shipped mine out in 7 days, got it last Friday.

You'll make well over 500 RWHP easy with just decent and cheap L92 heads and L76 intake.

A smaller stroke with the proper size rod fairs a better rod to stroke ratio. It is best to keep it as close to 1.55 as possible for a street motor as you want low rpm torque to move the vehicle. Generally the larger the R:S the higher the RPM peak torque that is produced. The larger R:S will also minimize side wall loading ABDC.
In summary there is more to it than simply stuffing the largest stroker crank you can find into a build. For a street strip application it would behoove you to consider going the opposite direction

Maybe I could do a 4.030 bore with a 3.750 stroke = 383ci. I just want it to be street friendly (dd), but when im on the highway and wanna play with a mustang or something, id like to give them a show. Also, will my stock fuel system be enough to feed it? I dont know what my limitations are on power before fueling becomes an issue

Hmm. Sounds like this might be more headache than what its worth to stroke it.. Unless I increase the stroke to only put me
in the 360ci range. And since I already have a block, I dont wanna spend anymore than id have to. Is 450 @ the wheels still reasonable without going big cubed?
