Replacing Oil pan gasket, rivet?

Replacing Oil pan gasket, rivet?
Of those of you that replace the Oil Pan gasket, do any of you re-rivet the gasket to the pan as it was originally? I bought a cracked pan and removed the gasket to have it welded. Since the gasket is in great condition, I was planning on re-using it. Should I rivet it back on to the pan?

The GM manual says they are not nessacary for installation the bolts will not let you screw that up I think Jason knows a little about what he is talking about. I have replaced numerous ones and NONE have leaked with out the rivets and all have good oil presure. The rivets just make it a little easier for installing the pan with out haveing to hold everything and start bolts at the same time but I have never had any issues doing it by myself. Good luck!
