How To Install Madman Motor Plate
Ok, this may be a stupid question...but I searched and came up with very little.
I got my Madman/TR motor plate kit in. It comes with 2 plates (one per side), 2 J-brackets, 4 bolts, 4 nuts, and some washers.
Now obviously the plate goes on under the water pump and the 'ears' on the plate sit on the frame rails.
What do you do with the J-brackets? All I can figure is they bolt to the side of the frame rails and hold the 'ears' on the plate. Like in the picture below.
Is there a write-up on how to do this install? I have forward facing manifolds, how much is ok to cut out of the plate?
Thanks,

Madman do you need a midplate for this setup??? I've been tossing the motorplate idea back and forth but all my buddies were telling me that a front plate isn't enough and you HAVE to run a midplate as well.....
Any truth to this????

i know of several guys that run just the motor plate. having both would be an advantage, i had a motor plate setup but decided to sell it to keep my car a little more "streetable" for the time being until i go turbo in a year or two then motor plate etc go in the car.

he's running a forward facing manifolds for the turbo setup so the mid plate shouldn't interfere with those right? when you run the mid plate you do you have to have a different size spacer on the converter or anything like that?

I guess that's a steel Midplate? Either way, however thick the midplate is the converter needs to be shimmed also. If the Midplate is installing between the motor and tranny. Good rule of thumb is the converter should come out of the tranny .080-.120"

i just sold my old motor plate setup (not madman's) and i'm already thinking about getting a madman setup for my car, just can't decide between that and solid mounts. can't say enough about Madman's parts and service though, you guys should definatly look into his parts.

Madman...using your motorplate, can I lower the engine about 1" or so? Or is there a whole slew of other stuff that prevents that? (considering I have the room b/w the pan and K member of course).
