Default Pistons with offset pins

Are any of these being used with the LSx...?

Is the offset in the direction of crank rotation (after TDC) or in the opposite direction(before TDC)...?

How do these affect cylinder wall wear...?

What are the advantages and disadvantages...?

What is a typical offset value...?

Joecar,
Erik Koenig helped set me straight on this concept about a year ago in this very forum. I've learned a lot from Erik and others who have graciously contributed their time and knowledge on subjects like this. Review the information here https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=offset. Then take a look at the illustration from the Wiseco catalog below.

I ended up buying custom -18 cc Wiseco pistons for the 408 Stroker that I am building. As I recall, The wrist pins are offset .030" from the Piston Bore center line (toward the major thrust side of the cylinder).

Steve,

Thanks, that's a good explanation...

(...interesting fact that the SBC cylinder bores don't line up fore/aft on the journals...)

...(toward the major thrust side of the cylinder)...
so that would be in direction opposite crank rotation...
as shown by the 2 small arrows in it the diagram above...

Ok, thanks,
Joe
