Default PHOTOS: chrome valvecovers, red coil packs, red fuel rail

Bringing you more bling weekly it seems . Here are the chromed valvecovers for the 2002 SS. I had fun today sanding, primering, and painting the fuel rail and coil packs. Tomorrow I plan on removing the intake manifold and spraying it silver. Should give the engine compartment a nice kick visually. I'll follow it up with some red plug wires. The red Jantzer throttle body will be here next week.

Oooohhh, so shiny!

Excuse the fingerprints:

just sanded, ready to paint:

I had the covers chromed locally. About $200 for the covers and the coil brackets. They came out awesome!

The coil packs were somewhat of a bitch to paint. I cleaned the hell out of them, and wasn't quite sure if paint would stick, so I sprayed them with light gray primer first. The paint looks kinda thick on them, gotta be extra careful not to scratch them until all the coats (4) dry completely.

Ha! guess were the only one up and on the boards tonight.. we need lives!!

You water pump came in the mail today. I will unbox it tomorrow and see what shape it is in. I was thinking of going with near chrome for my valve covers but that chrome is tasty..

Steve, go with the Chrome, it stands out better. Then paint the coil packs and fuel rail to match the blue on your car. No cheesy fuel rail covers!

I stayed home tonight to finish watching my defensive driving video. Damn ticket!

its one area im proud to have company in.. nothing makes me happier than to see people make an engine bay sparkle..

My engine bay is going to differ quite a bit from Tonys.. blue, chrome and various silvers/charcoals are going to be layered to hopefully make it interesting to look at.. And Tony, you KNOW that if I have coil packs they will be FAR from cheezy

Great work Tony. Your engine bay is going to look amazing especially with that blower.

Tony...if you dont mind me asking, but where did you have the valvecovers chromed at? Obviously from the pics it looks sweet, but only you can look at them closely...did they do a good job? Did they do the insides of them? The reason I ask is because I was worried about them getting it in the inside because if it ever flakes off and gets into the engine, ohh noo. By the way...it looks freakin' sweet! Are you going to have it all put back together for tonight at Fox & Hound?

Steve: About the Street and Performance valvecovers...did you mention them because they offer them in chrome? If so, do they have a website or do you have the direct link to the covers? Do you know of anyone else that sells chrome valvecovers? Thanks

unit, these are going in the '02. The blower is going in the '69.

NV, the chrome looks great, the place that did them is Bright Metals of the Heights. In the Height obviously (north of I10, inside west loop). The insides are not chromed. No fox-n-hound tonight most likely, I'm going partying instead.

Have you ever in the past had anything chromed by A1 Chrome Plating behind Hobby airport? Reason I ask is because the place that you mentioned is too far for me to drive, Im on the south side of Houston. Where's the drool icon when you need it!

Bad news, this sucks major ***! I spent all day removing the intake, cleaning it, painting it, putting everything back in the car. Started it up and let it run for 5 minutes, no problems. Took it for a test drive, and one of the POS injector O-rings decided to leak. The paintjob on the intake is now ruined. Now the POS inake has to come back off and be stripped and repainted. CRAP! Bastard O-ring!!

It looked great for 15 minutes:

At least I now know what it looks like. I'll have to get it fixed this week. Mustang, if I were to add FRCs to the engine, black with red letters would probably look the best. Kind of a waste to get valvecovers chromed if you add FRCs though.

Looks good, you should sand down the intake some more to get rid of the "O" marks on the top...

Bling Bling as always....
