Default opinions on single tail pipe?

I have a borla cat back which im currently in the process of polishing, its fully welded so I could only take off the passenger side tailpipe. I went for a drive before I finished it and wow! its allot louder with out it even with no plate. so that got me thinking.. I'm planning on getting an e-cut out for the borla and now I'm thinking about replacing the tail pipe with a turn down behind the cut out.. but I'm on the fence about the looks. what do you guys think? yay or nay on a single tail pipe?

LOL i did the EXACT same thing on my LT1 right before she blew....it sounded awsome....
1OTL Borla dumdumdum!!!

Not so much on the LS1 however.....i have to run the quietest plate just to make it tolerable and not raspy =/

did you find a turn down w/ a flange on it so I can just bolt it into the borla flange or did you have to weld it on?

I have borla catback on my car without any tailpipes. I capped the flanged side with a piece of 1/8" plate and took the short tailpipe off of the drivers side.

I think no tailpipes showing looks 100x better than those retarded dual square tips that borla puts on their catbacks.

The borla was on my car when I bought it. Im probably going to refab the entire exhaust system one of these days. The custom Y-pipe that is on my car looks like it was made by a teenager. Im probably going to make the whole exhaust system headers back and run a flowmaster hushpower muffler in the y-pipe and a delta 40 series after the axle with one turndown tailpipe.

I dont know how you could work that, borla has a 3" pipe on the right bypassing the muffler an two 2.25" pipes out the left. and for some reason its allot louder with out the right tailpipe on and im purely after the sound so a turn down should help a little more with that. I'm also planning on gutting my cat and putting a 27" powerstick in front of the axle

Do any of you guys have before and after videos? IM very interested in this. As far as just the single tip, you can have two and only have one functional. So just hang the second one dont hook it up. Early SS camaros stock had tailpipe(S) on just one side didnt they?

It looks like LT1 SS camaros got a single side pipe and LS1 models got dual side exits. I could swear ive seen 98 models with the same exhaust but i cant find any pics so i wont claim that as of now.

This is a factory 96 SS bone stock. Two tailpipes, on only one side.

and another

And heres a 97

those are some sharp SS's! alright you talked me into leaving it off. as soon as I get some disposable $ I'll get an e-cut out and weld a turn down to a flange to bolt up. I'll post an exhaust vid up as soon as its running again tho
