Default Fuel Line Heat Shield and FRC's

Is it OK to remove the heat shield tape from the fuel lines if using
FRC's? Was doing some test fitting today before I have them painted and it seems the driver's side would fit a lot better if that tape were removed and the lines could be separted a bit. Don't want to compromise safety however.

Haven't heard of any adverse affects, but I reinstalled my tape.

And I can get the cover on and off without removing the tape.

I dont run the tape since I have the FRC's.. Would love to have braided lines once I find a source for the connectors <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

They dont feel like they get very hot at all..
