Separating Trans Am Door Panels
I can't find anywhere about how to do this or if it's even possible, but I bought some uncracked tan door panels for my car but it turns out they're from a 99 so the accent color is grey instead of ebony, is their anyway I can separate the the tan section from the graphite/ebony section and swap them out? I couldn't find a thread anywhere on it!

its been a while but you can do it.
the arm rest has the plastic rods that can be seen from the back and the rod is melted down and thats what attatches it. when i took the arm rests off of mine i trimeed the melted section off them it just slides out. to reinstall it you need to drill into those rods and put a screw and big washer on it to hold everything together again.
but once you remove the armrest i think the leather insert just comes out.
what i said above may not make a lot of sense now but if you look at the back of the panel and move the padding out of the way and expose all of the plastic you will understand it. its super simple

The leather insert is held around the edges by melted tabs. If you want to remove the leather insert, trim the wide/melted part of the tabs so you are left with just the tab itself poking through the holes. Then you can remove the leather insert. To reattach it, you can use some plastic epoxy on the tabs or thin screws (about an inch long) perpendicular though the side of the tabs (whichever works better for you - I've done both).

Dissembling the door panels isn't too hard. Worst part is making sure you don't tear the cardboard section of the insert. (When you take it off you'll see what I am talking about, the lower section is just cardboard held in by thick white melted plastic tabs. This area is the easiest to tear)

My local upholstry shop charged me $50 to swap inserts into my new door panel.
