Default Fiberglass custom hood using stock hood for Vette?

I know I'm probably going to catch hell for this, but my friend wants me to try and make him a taller cowl induction hood for his Z06 so he can fit some intercooler tubing over the intake manifold. It's going to take something about 4" taller than the stock hood to do it. Now, I know the basics of fiberglass work (I mean BASICS, I took a class on plastics and fiberglass in high school), but would I be better off using a stock hood and going from there or just start from scratch using the stock hood as the negative?
