Default Installed gauge overlay, now temp guage does not work

I put in a NR white faced gauge overlay in today. The temp gauge does not work now. I know it is plugged in well, the needle goes down when I shut the car off, but when it's running the needle stays where I installed it at, 150 degrees. And yes, the engine temp was 150 when I installed it. Any thoughts? Looks sweet, btw.

Are you saying it goes down to 0 and the rises to 150 as the engine warms up? Try taking the needle off, let the engine temp come up fully, then reinstall at the correct temp.

I think I know what the problem is.... more than likely the car cooled off quite a bit before you had a chance to install the overlay, so now at normal operating temperature the needle is not in its proper position. Take the needle back off and run your car a few minutes, then reinsert the needle where it should usually be and then put the clear plastic cover back on.

No, when I start the car hot or cold, it goes straight to 150 and stays there. ???

is it possible that maybe the needle is down to far in that its travel is being impeded at some point along its trajectory? Maybe all you need to do is pull the needle off a little.

Maybe, I'll check it out. I tried to be careful not to push the needle down too far, like the instructions said.

I dont mean to steal this thread or anything but I did the same thing w/ my gauges. I no longer have my needle tool so how do I go about fixing this? My needle somewhat works. It goes up and down in little short bursts (I dont know how else to explain). Its not one smooth motion.

My NR overlay didn't come with a needle removal tool, so what I did was get two butter knives and cover them with masking tape. Get a knife on two sides of the needle (3 and 9 o'clock ) and slowly lift.

I'll try that! Should I worry about pulling too hard and completely popping off the needle?
