Shifter boot on automatic console
#6
A few years back, I wanted to build an M6-styled shift boot for my A4. I had cut away the gear selector area (granted the 93-96 shift plate is much different from the later years). and made a boot but got hung up on a retaining clip for the inside of the shifter plate. I don't like those tiny boots... they just kind of look hokey to me, IMO.
You can do an M6 shifter plate with a boot but you won't be able to get to 1st or 2nd, from what I've read. But I have no reason to do that, so might just end up going that route. The shift indicator/accordion things at the bottom of the shifter are natural dirt and dust collectors anyways and end up looking like crap.

I used a universal leather shift boot and trimmed it to fit.
