Ash tray lid return spring
When I bought my 2000 formula M6 the ash tray lid was laying on the floor. I figured out that one of the hinge pins was broken off and repaired it by using a small machine screw and grinding off the head. The lid works great now but flops open on it's own. I ordered a new spring for it but can't figure out how it attaches.
Does anyone have a diagram or picture of this spring/lid assembly from underneath the console?

Received a private message with a picture of bottom of console and ash tray lid. I ran the part number online to discover that the dealer sold me the wrong spring - I have part number 20829972 which appears to me to be for a cup holder lid on an 08-10 Malibu. I will return to the dealer and have them find me the correct spring.

A picture of the spring can be found here:

I, like many others, have made our own springs. I took the wire binding from a notebook, wrapped it around a pen to make a tighter loop, bent the ends to resemble to picture, and it has worked perfect.

Went back to my local chevrolet dealership and exchanged the wrong spring for the correct spring. Popped it in place instantly. Works like a charm now. I will post a picture later today to show you guys where it goes. It's a piece of cake when you have the right spring.
