Yes it can be done and has been done before. Is it easier to sell the car and buy a 98-02? That's debatable, money can be an issue. Realistically you're looking at about a grand to buy the parts and do the swap on your own. Also you will most likely need a repaint on the front end parts so add that on also.
If you plan on keeping the car forever I say go for it. You can drop any motor into it at a later date, or if you don't really care about power and just want it for the looks then do it. If you don't have plans on keeping it forever I would pass.
