Default remove headlights or not?

My girlfriend suprised me with some plastic polish stuff to make my headlights look new again. I searched and found that people use 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper and wet sand it. Do I have to remove my headlight assembly to do this? If so, how do I remove it? Thanx alot.

heat the assembly up to 200 degrees for 20mins and slowly pull the lenses off and do it that way... WILL work wonders... today (first day out on the street nin 3 weeks) and i got TONS of looks about the headlight mod (black paint) and CLEAR clean lenses...

Just a real quick suggestion. Dependent on how bad your lenses are you might want to use some coarser sandpaper and then progress into the finer stuff. I know mine were a nasty hazy yellow and 1500 just didn't do the job. I'm still working on mine. I followed the LS1Sounds guy(chad?)'s method...400,800,1500. Can definitely tell a difference but as I said I still have to finish them up. There is a thread that was posted by LS1sounds and if you do it right it can look great! Best of luck.
