Default Questions on Headlight polishing??

OK I just spent about an hour or so polishing my drivers side headlight.

This is what I did:

1. wet sanded with 1000 grit until the yellow was gone and it was smooth
2. Wet sanded with 1500 for awhile
3. Did the 3 and 2 part of the Novi polish.

Results it DEFINATELY looks better you couldn't even see the light housings before it was so bad and from 10 feet away they look pretty clear. Up close you can still see the areas that were the problem and its not a uniform shine.

So Questions:

Which thing should I do over again and spend the most time on? Is the 1000 just for getting it smooth or should I be cutting into it more. Do I need to just scrub more with the plastic poslish or what.

I know this is a hard question to answer just wondering from those who have done this before what did they spend the most time on? I spent most with the 1000 but was getting worried about sanding too much.

This is my first time ever wetsanding

mine weren't that bad, but not as clear as i liked, so i tried the novus.
I wet sanded with 1500 to get it smooth. Once it is smooth there is nothing much you can do other than wax and scrub in step 3 and 2. Everytime you go over it with 3 it'll get clearer,....once it doesn't change, do it with 2(waxing it it, and buffing/scrubbing it off). Mine still arn't near perfect, but better.

Default Sand and polish.

I bought some 3M polish and it works good but my headlights had to be sanded pretty good before. I started with 600-800-1000-1200-1500-2000 & then polished with 3" buffer with a 90 degree sander with a polishing pad applied. I know its alot of work but my headlights look awesome now & one of my buddies thought I had bought new ones and wanted my old ones. I guess now I can actually buy a digital camera with the money I saved from doing this instead of buying new headlights.

I just want to thank the guys with the info on this site.

this is how i did mine a month ago. and mine was so bad you chould hardly see at night. i wet sanded with 400, 600, 800, 1200, then 1500. yes alot of steps but worth it at the end, then i used a fine cut 3m polish and a buffer. then finshed with a 3m scratch remover. the resutls was awsome, they was clearer than when they was new from the factory hope this helps

pm me with your e-mail and ill send you a pic of before and after
