Default Polishing/Polished Parts

I am wanting to dress up my car a bit, but am unsure exactly what it takes to have a polished tb, maf, exhaust, etc. For those who have done it, did you do it your self? If so, how hard was it, how long did it take, etc. For now, my car is my DD and I can't let it sit too long and wait to have these parts polished and I really don't want to spend a lot of $$$ to have it done. Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

James
