1. Acetone/Nail Polish Remover to remove the bird color
2. Wet sand with 2000 Grit Sandpaper to get rid of the bird outline
2. Polish it up with 3M Perfect It II Fine Cut Rubbing Compound 39002
4. Could follow up with 3m Swirl Mark Remover, but not all that necessary IMHO

Been there, done that many times over, ...
I'd follow jimbonzzz directions with a twist, ...
1. Acetone/Nail Polish Remover to remove the bird color (Or simple laquer thinner works too, ...)
2. I wet sand with 1200 Grit Sandpaper to get rid of the bird outline (I start by using a 1/4 sheet orbital sander, then finish by hand to even out & remove any scratches left by the sander.)
3. I use a DA polisher with Zaino's Plastic Polish to bring it back to life. (Occasionally start with the Zaino Glass Polish which has a bit more substance to it, which will start to bring it back faster, then finish with the Plastic Polisher.)
I've done dozens of these things, & have tried other polishes, but nothing has worked as well as the Zaino, IMO, ...
Good Luck!
