Default New Paint Job Cost?

I have a black '95 Z28 that needs a good paint job on it. By good, I mean like it came from the factory when it was new. No obviously noticeable orange peel, no runs, no dust, no obvious over sprays. I just need the outside of the car painted, not the engine bay, door sills, etc.

I've been told that the $1200 I paid for my current shitty paint job is "I got what I paid for" and I don't buy that for a second. I've heard people saying that a good quality paint job will cost $7500-$10000 but I wonder what the **** they are smoking. I would think that I could get an awesome "from the factory look" for $2000 tops since they are only painting the outside of the car in the same color. Is this not true? If not, why? Maaco did a $400 job on my Acclaim and while it is not perfect, it looks worlds better than my Camaro does now. Can someone realisticly tell me what I should expect to pay for the paint job I want?

7 g's you might as well go with a custom color......Just look around shop or friends......Get a price on one shop and go to other shops and tell them the first shops price so they can beat it! DO this until you get you car done for $2000.....

So it can be done then. That is good news. I will go around to the different shops that I know of and get prices.

If things like your door jambs and hatch, as well as your engine bay are already black and they dont need to be painted than doing some of the prep work your self, strippingthe paint, priming, block sanding, or whatever else is neccessary to get your car ready to be sprayed, you will be able to get the car painted for 1500 or so. Good luck

i was looking to two tone my truck and i heard that it was going to be in the 5k+ mark...a complete color change is going to be much more expensive than a "re-do"
