Default oxidized headlight covers

I don't suppose there is a way to get that oxidation or whatever it is, off of the covers of our headlights is there?

You can try. I have had some luck on my friends cars using Mothers Aluminum Polish. Just go over them...ALOT, over and over. When you take out as much as you can, go over them with some car wax to protect them.

It depends on how bad they are, but you can get most of it out.

Peace,
Craig.

I started with about 400 grit wet sanding paper, worked up to
about 1500 grit rubbing compound. It's a PITA on the car,
(like I did it) better to pull them off and do it. I think I remember
seeing something in the appearance section a while back about
how someone else did it. Mine were really bad, and actually
need another round after beacoupe miles.

GWJ, did that sand job pretty much get rid of all of the fade? and its cold as hell here right now, so pulling them out sounds like a much better idea.
Thanks for the replies

Yeah, it works pretty good. Depends how much time you
want to put into it. Between bugs and lotsa highway
miles my HL lenses get crudded up pretty fast.
I would be very, very careful about using a power
tool. I tried to use a dremel on low speed (buffing
wheel was OK), and an orbital polisher and the
heat generated makes the plastic lens melt.

You can try it on low speed with a very soft wheel
and a light touch.
I had the best luck with elbow grease.
Here's someone elses work:
