Default Auto meter oil guage life span?

I have had my Mechanical Auto Meter oil gauge for almost 4 years now and while sitting at idle I show about 5 to 8 PSI of pressure. The oil guage in the instrument cluster is reading normal. I have heard about the guages going bad after time, does this happen? The oil pressure on the guage started to drop over a few months to where it is at now. Anyone have any other similar situations like this?

I started the car, and when cold the guage reads 35 PSI, but once it warms up the pressure drops!
