Default How are the SLP grilles held on?

A buddy of mine picked up one of the SLP grilles (with the spot for the "SS" in the middle) for his SS and was wondering how exactly it went on. How many holes is it supposed to have? I believe his has one on each side of the center column and three other ones on each side of the grille.

Could I possibly see any pictures on how you guys have these things mounted? (Push-pins, screws, etc)

Thanks.

You have to drill into your bumper. I think 6 holes is what I needed to drill. Then you push in these long friction fastners into the grill then into the bumper. They were a bitch to get in all the way. I was able to do my whole job without removing the bumper cover but I think SLP suggests removing it.

Yeah, SLP suggests removing it. Ive heard of some of 'em being held on with double sided tape, but most of 'em are the fastner kind. They're those christmas tree looking fastners that you just push in after drilling holes. 6-8, something like that is what mine has (still havent put the MF'r on yet).

I've installed 2 of them - one on the car, one with the bumper cover removed. Absolutely no question you should take it off. It only takes 30 min or so to remove it, and you can get things lined up waaay better, and it's much easier to install those push-in fasteners. Just my $0.02.......

Thanks for the help guys. I'll show my buddy this link.

By the way, where can we pick up the correct kind of the push-pin fasteners?

They should have come with the grille. If you bought it used just call SLP and if you get a cool rep they will probably just send them to you for a few bucks shipping. If you decide not to pull the bumper you'll need a right angle drill. No way to drill with the bumper cover on without one.
