I purchased a garden hose filter from pure water and it is much better than the Houston tap. The good thing is that you can replinish your filter when you determine it's reached its filtering capacity.

I think they recommend having two hoses and screwing in the filter in between, which is what I do. When the canister fills up with water, it does have some weight and might stress the faucet.

Btw, I've never been able to obtain a totally 'spot free' result with any product, but the softened water is much, much better than tap. I just go over the car lightly with an absorber and then follow up with some Zaino Z6. The difference is very noticeable.
