Default SC400 Detail

Started it yesterday and finished up today. The sun wasn't out very much of the time so these are the best pics I got. Per usual the process was wash, no clay bar this time b/c I planned on polishing, menzerna FP, and Meguiar's #26. The car had a hell of a lot of fine swirls to begin with and I got a good amount of them out with the FP but didn't have the time to do the IP before the FP. It would have turned out better with a good pass of intensive polish but eh, oh well. The car is a '95 Lexus SC400 with about 80k on the clock and is in pretty damn good condition being 11 years old. I also detailed the engine and interior while I was at it.

And, of course, things like this are always for sale if the price is right

The first two pics are examples of the paint before hand. It was hard to capture the haze due to all the fine swirls and scratches though. The rest of the pics are after polish and wax.

Looks nice.

Clay is still beneficial even when polishing. They serve two different purposes.

I thought that if you were gonna polish you didn't need the clay bar as much due to the cutting nature of the polish. I agree it can always help, just didn't think it was that necessary.

Clay will help pull the crap that's stuck in the paint/clear free, as well as remove wax, bugs, bird poop, water spots, etc. I like to clay before polishing, just to make sure the polisher doesn't decide to pick up some random embedded piece of dirt and rub it all over the car.

Car looks great, though. Nice job!
