Default Steering Wheel Gripe

I was hoping to get a Grant steering wheel for my car (04 Mustang, sorry for the slow word) but they do not make an installation kit. Short of putting in a whole new steering column, I am stuck with what I got.
Just to bitch a little - the guy from a reputable parts company told me that it was illegal since the air bag has got to go. I found that a little odd since most of the stuff they sell is also illegal (on the street anyway). Funny to me, my husband had no problem getting an exhaust with no cats and a resonator I can stick my arm through. Illegality shall not be an excuse!

The guy was right. Removing the airbag is illegal. Removing the CATs is also illegal in most states. That doesnt stop some people from doing what they want anyway...until they fail inspection. It all depends on your local state's laws.

Last I heard it was not illegal for a car owner to remove an airbag. Are you sure about that?

its not illegal that ive heard, its done all the time (3/4's of the ricers for example) auto manufacturers just put airbags into cars to add safety features. im sure you can find an installation kit call jegs or summit racing? anyhow most good parts companys should be able to find you something

They dont do it just out of good will or marketing. Its required by law for all cars to come from the factury with driver and passenger airbag. Labeling a car a "kit car" or pulling off some other import trick can exempt it though.

Required safety equipment from the manufacturer does not equal illegal to remove.
A Momo wheel was my very first mod when I got my Camaro about 5 or 6 years ago. I like it much better than the stocker.

Depends on the state and the inspector during the inspection. Either way, do whatever you want.
