the quality is **** the fiberglass splits and cracs. it doesnt line up because of it and for the price of the hood its stupid to even try and get a decent hood from them.

Matt, heres your thread come show pictures!

I have the Mecham hood, here are some pics:
www.techcycle.org/jim/hood1.jpg

Now I bought it about 6 years ago so maybe things have changed and maybe they havent. My hood didnt fit right at all. A friend put it on for me (he owns his own body shop, VERY high quality work) and he wanted to send it back becuase it looked so bad and needed a lot of work. It came in all wavy and didnt fit right. Dennis (Mecham) gave me some money back to help pay to make it fit right but my friend said it wont be 100%. I was going to be charged a restocking fee and would have to pay for shipping if I sent it back so I was stuck with the thing. Well after 15hours, YES 15 HOURS of prep work the hood was worthy of being put on the car THIS WAS BEFORE paint. Now I dont know if you can tell from the pics but the drive side front by the headlight is lifted about a quater inch and doesnt fit flush. I love the looks of the hood but just be wary about how to get it to that point.

It's a shame. I love that hood too. Hate their spoiler, but love their tips. Then there were the Mecham T/A's... Drool. Anyhow, yeah, don't get it. Unless you live here in AZ where they are based out of, so that you can go down and punch them in the face for charging so much for such a cheap hood that doesn't fit right.

My brother has that hood on his TA and I never heard him complain about it at all? Maybe he was lucky.
How is the quality of their spoilers? I'm thinkin about putting one on mine.

I had no problems with the spoiler, I believe its made by a different company that makes there hoods. I did put the factory spoiler back on recently though because I got tired of the Mecham ones look (and birds using at as a bath after it rained)..

Why certainly sir!! Happy to undermine Mecham any chance I get!

As for new hood with better quality, that will be from ASCD. I sent my old hood to Rex about a year ago, but he has been busy with the particulars of selling his business to his partner. But from what I understand, the new hood will still be on the way, just a question of when...

I hope someone starts a new thread for the new hood when its done titled in all caps that its finally here. Or maybe make it a forum announcement cuz i know i want a mecham pretty bad. So bad the quality is on the edge of taking the back seat.

Yup! And on that sunny day in the fall, I decided enough was enough and started talking to Rex about a possible remold. I figured why not, instead of bitching about it and doing nothing else, I'll at least try to do something. And so far it hasn't moved at the speed I would have liked since Rex is selling the company to his partner, but at least we're heading hopefully toward something...
Who knows, maybe someday we'll have that nice hood...

Its seems like the same old same old on the market, someone needs to come up with a entirely new design for these cars. Something that flows with the car overall and says trans am.

Its really letting air out. When the air dam scoops the air off the ground for the radiator, the air acually has a place to go rather than to just build pressure under the hood and cause a "light" feeling front end at high speeds.

I love that hood. But like others have said, fitment is not the best.
