Clearcoating headlights?

Clearcoating headlights? I am getting ready to sand the lenses of my headlights. Would it be alright to clearcoat them to prevent the yellow from coming back?

You know, I've thought of that myself. You may want to buff them out with a tapered cotton buff, sort of lightly so you don't melt the plastic, and then wax them from now on.
