Lead contender for my next project... (pics)
Ive been talking with the owner of this car.. Its not an RS but its a very nice frame off'd SS.. since I want to mess with the car its nice that its not #'s matching or anything.. I do need to fix a few things like toss a 6-speed in it (its an auto) and do Wilwoods on the four corners.. but its minor stuff.
Car has 150 miles on it since resto, everything new and the entire engine bay, and rearend were powder painted. All new suspension and 18" budnik wheels.. seems like a good starting point.. best of all the price is about $10k less than the silver RS/Z28 I was looking at.. so thats $10k to tweek it to my standards (recaros?, bow-tie bolts? )
Here it is:
engine:
Only problem is that it is in Southern Louisiana so I would have to either fly out to look at it or trust the owner and go by the pics (like my buyer did).. ANYONE here live near there and want to make a couple bucks???
So.. whacha think? I certainly wont loose it in parking lots

Thanks guys --- I will let ya know after I talk with the seller today.. Maybe I should just roll the dice and buy it sight unseen.. heck, thats what my buyer did
You ever seen the car Tony? All I need is for SOMEBODY to vouch for it. Sure seems to be done right from the picutes but bad body work dosent show up much in pics..
Of course I need to swap in a manual trans, fix the dash, add power brakes (heck maybe BIG brakes) a vintage air system maybe and some proper big block valve covers.. Recaros might be nice.. DOH! here I go again!!!

You gonna drive it back to Cali? Like I drove mine back from Kentucky? haha. If so, stop in Houston on the way back
You are correct, you are saving alot by buying one that is mostly complete. These conversion and pro-touring parts add up quickly!

Damn you guys and your 1st gens!
My dad had a '69 Z/28. I could kill him for getting rid of it before I could get my hands on it. Whats worse, is he traded it in on a Triumph something or other.
Congrats Steve! It looks like a beautiful car from the pics. Can't wait to see what ya do to it.
Man, I am soooo jealous.
