Default 1st to 2nd shift issue 98 Camaro

Good afternoon guys. I need to pick your brains for a moment. I purchased a 98 Camaro LS1 A4 yesterday. It has a shifting problem that I would like your input on.

Issue: Under normal easy driving, you must let off of the throttle for a second in order for the trans to make the 1-2 upshift. All other shifts up and down are normal.

Under full throttle, it will not shift into 2nd, and causes the car to bounce off the rev limiter.

Car shows 14x,xxx miles, but this car is a basket case and I do not know the trans history. Thoughts? Input?

Thanks guys.

I will have this car on our lift Saturday morning, and will check the pan. I am a complete newb when it comes to these transmissions. There is a code getting thrown, but I have not had a chance to read it yet (only owned the car 14 hours). I will post which code(s) are present.

I am having a similar (well same) problem and only have 28,000 on my car. I have to drop my pan sometime soon. Hopefully there is no debris as I don't want my Vig 3200 to be messed up. Fluid look great though.
