Default whats this for?

Mi friends TA 94 has this thing disconnected, the trany works very strange.
could be that cable the guilty??

The cable goes to the column and neutral safety switch, Dont think would make trans act strange but would allow car to start in any gear

Actually no, that disconnected rod is the brake lock out solenoid, which only allows you to pull the shifter out of park when the brake is depressed and the ignition is ON. The white clip is the cable allows the ignition switch to be returned to the lock position (to pull the key out) while the shifter is in park only. Then there is one more (pictured on the lower left of the image) which is the cable that actuates the gear selector on the transmission (shift linkage cable). The neutral safety switch is mounted on the shifter assembly (see the bolt at the mid-right of the image), which controls the reverse light and allows the car to start only in Nuetral and Park.
