Default Trans swap in my 99 camaro

I'm taking the turbo 400 out and installing a 4l60E. The car now operates on the original 99 stick computer from the car. Are there any advantages to running a newer ecu for trans operation. Any help would be appreciated

The transmission controls are not that complex were a newer ecu would matter unless you understand all the variables used to control the transmission and have the ability to modify them. For most the ability to modify shift lines and pressure are adequate no matter what controls you are using.
