Default Leaking trans fluid out of output shaft

I was adjusting my exhaust the other day and I noticed a red fluid on the bottom of my car (on something). I traced it back to the output shaft on the transmission. I'm on the tightest budget. I know my transmission can NOT get low, so how would I fill it with fluid? How do I repair this leak?!

Thanks,
Kyle

Well assuming its and FBODY you would use the dipstick tube and stick to check and add fluid. As for the rear seal its just knocks out and end so easy fix after you remove driveshaft which is the hardest part.

OK.

I will probably do this Saturday in between track runs (friday and sunday).

So should be very scary...

When you say "knocks out" is there anything special I should know?

And with driveshaft removal should I know anything outside of remembering to use locktite when putting the bolts back on?

Thank you for the quick reply!

i dont think you need locktite on the driveshaft bolts. those little bolts wouldnt come out again very easy.

as for the leak you would just have to get a new seal. its that big round plastic looking piece around the output shaft. pop the old one off and put the new one in. it can be a pain to get in cause youll hit one side in and the other side will pop out.

It is a very easy fix if it is just a seal problem. Take a look at the yolk will it is out, make sure it is not worn any. That could cause the problem as well. I would probably suggest fixing before you get to the track. Never know what you might need.
