Default m6 to th400 problems

hey guys i figured i would get on here and ask you guys what you think about my 400. the install itself went really really easy... alot easier than i thought, well we got fluid in the tranny and now we have all gears, BUT when you go to manual first it acts as if the brakes are on... now it has 4l80e internals with a transgo stage 2 shift kit and 3200 stall... now about this forst gear... with the trans in D itll move and shift fine on its own BUT when you select manual first it just sits there... you can hit the pedal and it'll more or less clunk into first at 1800-2 grand, but when you leave it in D itll upshift and downshift just fine???? what is this things deal??? any help is much appreciated guys thank you
