4L80E to 4L60E swap.......
I find a ton of info going from 60E to 80E, but not the opposite (for obvious reasons)
I am installing a 2003 LQ4 engine with stock PCM and wiring into a CJ7 and are using a 2002 4L60E off a LS1 Firebird. I am using the LS1 flexplate and converter.
After some reading it seems like the flexplate/converter combo is not going to work on the LQ4 because of a different length crank or something - can somebody verify this?
The other issues I need to overcome is:
1. Repin the trans connector - probably just do the opposite of what you do with the 60E to 80E swap.
2. Simply not use the front VSS sensor.
3. Reprogram the PCM - can I take the .bin file from the firebird and flash it into the LQ4 PCM? I do have HP Tuners.
4. The gear selector switch from the LQ4 fits the 4L60E, but then the selector arm will not fit?? Is there a different selector axle or selector switch?

OK, already figured out the flexplate/converter part (had to go into the garage and do some measuring ).
This is a direct bolt-on. Maybe the crank had a spacer before, but if so it had been removed before I bought the engine. I have about 1/4" of space between the flexplate and the converter with the converter pushed all the way into the transmission so this is perfect.
Also took al look at the gear selector switch - the only way I can see this work is if the selector axle is longer. Seems that the Firebird never had the selector switch in this location. Maybe it is on the steering coloumn on these vehicles?

Did the wiring part today.
The 60E have two more wires than the 80E so I repinned the wires from the front VSS on the PCM connector to no 2 and 79, lengthened the wires and pinned them into the trans connector in the correct locations.
Anybody know about the selector axle?
