A4 bouncing off rev limit between 1st and 2nd
Hey guys
I have a 94 Z, A4 , the car is stock except a flowmaster and a k and n air filter ,which i just put both of those on this past weekend. I bought the car sat before last.
Anyway i noticed Sat when i got on it pretty hard that the engine hits the rev limiter before it shifts into 2nd gear but just for a split second. Then it shifts fine. The car is pulling hard so i dont think its slipping its just not shifting fast enough it sems like.It started after i put the K and N filter in.Is that just circumstantial? Could it be a speed sensor?

Could be the shift comand time and rev limter were set very close to start with, Even though small the flowmaster and air filter may have increased power just enough to allow more than the alotted rpm range to pass between comand and actual shift. You may need to ajust shift times to compensate.

I had a buddy of mines car do that...but it doesn't do it all the time...once in awhile and we still can't figure out what exactly is causing it...shift times are good and shift rpm is well below redline but it still bumps the limiter once in awhile...I believe his trans might be on it's way out....
