Default Considering 4L80E? What Years?

I am considering going with a 4L80E... I am going to buy a used one and have it rebuilt. What year vehicles would I be looking for to get one from? I was thinking 99 and up 2wd... but I see guys on ebay selling 4L80E from a 92 and a96.. did they have electronic transmission then?? What years should I look for during my search.

Thanks!

The 4L80 has always been electronic.

Thanks guys. I know the E stands for electronic.. I was just wondering if maybe there was a 4L80 (non-electronic) that people were confused and advertising it as a 4L80E

So 97 and up 4L80E out of any GM 2wd will be fine?

Thanks again!

94 up will work. 2001 was the last upgrade to the 80e by the Hydramatic division. Upgrades were also made in 99. All 80e's were electronic.
