Default 98 blazer tranny same as vortec v8?

Im about to purchase a 5.3 motor for my 98 blazer and am wanting to know if there is anyway i can reuse the factory blazer's 4l60e? I am just not sure about the converter bolt pattern as well as the bell housing pattern. Are'nt they the same or am i mistaken.
Its my familys daily driver so i am trying to keep downtime to a minumum lol
The ol 4.3 just aint cutting the mustard with everybody loaded up in it .So instead of turbocharging the tired v6 figured i would just skip that..for now..and put a plentiful 5.3 in lol

I think that the bellhousing will work because the LS engines do not use the top bellhouing bolt, that is sbc that uses it

The 4.3l converter is the Gen I V8 style. I am not sure if the Gen III V8 style converter will swap in to the earlier trans.

But you can use the Gen I trans with the 5.3L. You will need the 5.3L flexplate and buy a spacer for the crank. The spacer goes on after the flexplate to support the nose of the converter. You might have to elongate the torque convter bolt holes alittle as well.

The trans will bolt right up. The Gen III/IV motors use the top bolt and not the one behind the #8 cly side. You'll see it it's not drilled. The Gen I 4l60 might or might not have the top hole case into the bellhousing. If so use it if not the trans will be OK with just using 5 bolts.

You can use the 4.3 trans you will however need to use a bushing/spacer in the back of the crank as the 4.3 vortec converter pilot is smaller other than that it should bolt up just fine.
