Default Cold Weather?

Earlier today i changed my fluid and filter only drove the car and it drove fine. Fluid level is good. Now its about 40 degrees outside which it was warm today and upon pulling out of my drive way with the car completely cold my 1-2 shift hit a little hard by the time I go to the main road abt a 1/2 mile it completely cleared up and drove fine. It wasnt slipping verified by a couple wot runs in 1-2 2-3. Is it normal?
Thanks Dan

I would recheck the fluid level to make sure it is good. Cold fluid will cause some weird shifts sometimes. Just pay attention and see if it happens again. If so then get a scanner on it to see if there is a code.

Ok all seems to be good this morning I think the shifts may be a little firmer than with the old fluid but it is shifting normal. With that said I double checked the fluid on the dipstick after running some errands, so the car was up to operating temp. Heres what it looked like.... It sems to me there is fluid all the way to the hot mark which should be ok however it looks as if there is much more fluid towards the bottom does this mean im still low and the light pink is just over splash from the pan?

Just wanted to add that the car was recently tuned for headers but the line pressures werent touched only torque management removed could this be a factor? Also the tranny took about 6 quarts to get it full again or so it looks on the dipstick is this normal for a simply fluid and filter change seeing as the manual only says 5?

Up here in Michigan we get tons of customers asking the same thing. The ATF is thicker in the colder weather causing a firmer shift for a few shifts. Once the trans warms up it should be normal. I believe the factory torque mngt may factor in pressure rise for a short period until temps rise also. You were probably a little low on ATF. We've been told for years to fill about 1/16-1/8" past the full mark for stick variation. Better to be full than low.
